How do I register?
We’ve sent an email to the email address you gave when you pledged. Check your junk folder if you can’t find it. In this email, you’ll find your unique activation code and a link to the registration page. Once you enter your code and your personal details into that page, we’ll do the rest.
When will I get my Tortoise member merchandise
It’ll be with you in mid January 2019 when we go live in beta.
When does my membership go live?
Your membership starts on January 14th, 2019 but there’s a lot you can do in the meantime. Come to a ThinkIn (it won’t come out of your official membership entitlement), a members breakfast and follow us on social media to join in the conversation.
When will you start to publish?
We will be experimenting with different types of stories, in different formats, between now and January 14th. Because you’re a founding member, we’d love you to help us figure out what works and what doesn’t. From January 14th, we’ll be publishing daily. We’ll email you to remind you when it all starts in earnest, so don’t worry.
What if I need to change my personal details from the ones I used when I pledged?
No problem, just email memberhelp@tortoisemedia.com and we will sort it out. When your membership goes live in January, you will be able to edit and manage your personal details online.
Who owns Tortoise?
We have eight private investors backing us. We will not be taking on any further investors, corporate or private, for the time being and nobody has a majority share. We mean it when we said we are and always will be resolutely independent.
How much money have you raised?
We’ve enough money in the bank to operate in the UK for 3 years, plus over £500k which we raised through our Kickstarter campaign. This gives us the confidence to experiment with our formats and develop Tortoise, with our members, over time.
